Hi Richard, Mark and I getting married next September in a church in the seaside town of Beer, Devon. The vicar has told us that we can have whatever music we like in church and we would love to have one of your songs play as we sign the register... as so much of our courtship has involved listened to your music and going to your gigs.... only we are struggling to decide which one....

I get the impression that the new album revolves around heartache so I'm not sure I'll find one there...
You have often told us that you are as soft as a bag of... oh what was it again???? oh yeah I remember.... but can you think of a song that would fit the bill... "The Ocean" springs to my mind as does "Serious" but maybe they're not serious enough?

I'd love to hear which one you thought would be good...

maybe... it's better than "Something is" which might get him on the next train that's going round the bend or "Born under a bad sign" which is my very favourite but totally inapppropriate....
None of my favourites fit the bill
....perhaps I could move the wedding to Christmas so I can use "Silent Night" :*:

Baby You're My Light? Or has that been done too often before?

Or stretching things a bit you could use his cover of Young and Beautiful or Words of Love?

I always think that has a dark side to it, but can't work out what it is

Haven't you heard that one? I'm sure somebody can provide you with a copy, it was on Kid Jensen's radio show (or whatever he's called instead of "kid" these days)......... I'd offer but my outgoing mail isn't working properly and I haven't moved any of my music over to my new computer - that's a job for a quiet weekend! :?

However if you haven't had the offer of a copy by Sunday let me know as I hope to finish mucking about with all this computer stuff this weekend!

Here's one for you anniversary - best wishes good luck!!!

Knees of my heart

How do I begin - where do I start
When did you first scrape the knees of my heart
You said you would never marry a musician
I said that's all right - 'cos I ain't good enough to be one
You dragged this basket case - in out of the dark
And I fell for you - from the knees of my heart

The Registrar's Office was a bold council gray
I slipped the ring on your finger - it's there to this day
Oakington Avenue - corn flakes 'n' jam
I sprayed your Anglia black - but it still looks like a pram
You got the face of an angel - I felt Cupid's dart
All the way down to the knees of my heart

You love me - you hate me
You move me - you irritate me
When I go over the top you always drag me back
You fill in all the cracks - I guess opposite's attract
And I'm glad of that

Down by the river where the humming birds hum
I bought you house with a burglar alarm system
You're honest, you're faithful - you're loyal and true
Where would I be if it was not for you?

For always and ever - ''til death do us part
I will love you - from the knees of my heart

OK it's not Richard - it's Ian Hunter - but it's a belting song.

I reckon 'Words of love' would be sweet for the big day tho'

I quite agree...Ian hunter has done some of the finest love songs I have heard. I dig into his extensive back catalogue regularly when I feel the urge for something soft. 'Irene Wilde', 'Rose', 'Pearl n Roy', 'Dead Man Walkin', 'Ships', 'Livin' in a Heart' to name but a few - the latter holds special significance for me.

As for Richard's work, IMHO I think 'Our Darkness' would be my choice although a whole gaggle of his others come a very close second.

Cheers, Steve

Funny that - i always picture someone lying asleep with Bella Lugosi's long taloned shadow on the wall behind them when I listen to that! :D
