I'm usually still quite fuddled at that time of the morning, so it did well to penetrate the fog 8)

It looks like Open up the Door was No. 17 just before Christmas in the NME chart. :D

Does anyone know if it reached the Top 75 on the UK Singles chart?

whether it did or whether it didn't, this has to be close to the best ever song Richard has written. I get it on in the car and I can't stop singin it all day. Beautiful lyrics, lilting melody, fantastic song construction. Crescendo and increased number of instruments in swell towards the end with some sort of descant version of the melody from the bard. Got it all.
Bloody marvellous.

I agree, fantastic tune... it has a very calming effect on me, I also play lots of music in the car and I find it very soothing. My 12 yr daughter is having three teeth out tomorrow and has asked me to put Cole's Corner on her ipod so that she can listen to it while its all going on! Normally she'd have those other Sheffield stalwarts Artic Monkeys blaring out but on this occasion she's requested Mr Hawley.. fantastic, it warmed the cockles of my heart to hearing her sing along to "just like the rain" coming home from school today..... 8) 8)

Thanks Jane, dentist was much better than expected, although a bit gruesome watching them 'extract' the offending teeth, you'd think it would be all modern but she (dentist) was wielding what looked like a pair of pliers.... luckily its all over now! :) :) braces to be fitted in a fortnight tho'... think coles corner may be coming out for that one too !!

I guess Richard should be flattered but it sounds like a small child playing drums in the background!! Each to their own I suppose. :?
