Saw the ad today. It's great that so many people will be hearing the song.

Heard it tonight in between X Factor...great to hear classy music being used - some ad director has taste! ...and it will no doubt add a peak to record sales and downloads.

I always remember a Levi advert back in 70s ...loved it, bought the album...one week after the same tune appeared on top of the pops - and a few weeks later the band hit the big time...anyone remember who that was?

Interesting that you usually turn them down. Are you allowed to say which ones. It would be interesting to know what they chose instead.

Think the phone lines were pretty hot tonight during the X factor - my Mum, too, rang to say she'd seen the ad :*: ''Couldn't tell what the advert was about, but recognised the voice'' :D

I have been in Italy for a week and returned Friday. We set off for the Liverpool gig yesterday and on the way my Daughter said she heard a Richard Hawley song on an ice cream advert. I asked what song and she said she didn't recognise it.

I asked how did she know it was RH? She replied
"I know Richard Hawley's voice".
She put me in my place.

I love the song, and the ice cream and will always smile at the thought of three round beach ball Hawley kids. :*:

I was talking to a mate of mine on the phone last night about the Liverpool gig on Saturday, when I started to hear Open Up You Door (obviously coming from the telly). Not having seen the advert before for a second I thought I was hearing things! :*:

I love the ice cream ad; classy and not too 'in yer face'

I think the singer in the 70's Ad was David Dundas (according to my mum  ) Is this it?

Yes that was Lord David Dundas, it was an advert for Brutus Jeans, not Levis. Brutus jeans were the thing to have - £4.99 a pair, or a princeley £6.99 if you went for the ones with empriodery on the back pockets.
