Bought the EP in FOPP yesterday and I absolutely love it. Remorse Code is such a great song. There's A Storm A Comin' might be Richard's best ever. And the sea shanties are incredible. :D

You'll be able to hear it when the film Brighton Rock is released.

shallow brown was recorded live in one take with me and the girls and Col and Shez sat round one microphone....I heard the song for the first time in years in South Zeal in a pub sang by the Devon shanty men it stopped me in my tracks like time had been frozen.....,i hadn't heard it since i was about 5 years old.......my Dad used to sing me to sleep with it and i had totally forgotten its existence..............,its origins are from slave times and it has haunted me since rediscovering its power some months ago and i vowed to record it.......it is a beautiful song i hope i do it justice.

...somewhat.

I just heard this for the first time from the other nights radcliffe maconie, well actually for the first, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th times in a row.

Shiver-inducing vocals from everyone round that mic. Utterly and truly beautiful.

Looking forward to hearing you on Monday.

Have had this on my ipod for a week now and I am in love with it – it's so beautiful. Remorse Code is my favourite track on Truelove's Gutter anyway and Shallow Brown is just gorgeously sad. But I think There's a Storm A Comin could be a contender for my favourite Hawley song – my favourites of most artists I like change quite regularly so I reserve the right to change my mind but it is lovely, lovely. Can't wait for the souped up version – but might still like this one more.
And, it's a first, but even my kids like it. My five year old is singing it around the house (to a totally different tune and as more of a factual statement: There is a storm will be coming) but they don't like much of my music so its a start. Maybe I'll try a touch of Sly and the Family Stone next... let you know how I get on! x
