I've been listening to Late Night Final a fair bit the last few weeks and i'm really loving this track, also the instrumental after is just amazing.

My fave tunes at the minute, not listened to the album for quite sometime but popped it on the other day and it hasn't been off since.

I saw an elsebound train, on the overpass
In the driving rain, every ticket costs the same
For where you can't go
Mustang horses, champagne glasses
Anything frail anything wild
It's the price of living motion, what's beautiful is broken
And grace is just the measure of a fall.

Does anyone have any idea what the lyrics signify? To me it suggests that we all die and take the long black train .... but I'm probably completely wide of the mark .. you may mock me at will!

Me too, the first time I heard it I was walking past Crewe station, so the train sounds blended in nicely. :) I love trains.

I interpreted it along those lines Prudence, so we may be wrong together.

To be honest I've given up trying to understand lyrics. I've adopted a Sun reader's approach...if they sound nice and conjure up a feeling or two, then they work for me. Some people get hung up trying to read too much into words.

I remember tunes quite easily. Not words. Long Black Train is a beautiful song. Haunting.

Richard sounds like he's chewing on his tobacco pouch.
