love it. do you know that toots is playing at the cockpit in leeds on the 20th june? saw him last year and he was mint. check out stuff by ziggy marley, chip off the old block, it's a it more lightweight but still good. i prefer 'kaya' and 'exodus' by bob. the man was a prophet.

Yep, can't beat em, I don't have that one but the DJ ones are good, the Reggae Chill Out and the Dub ones come heavily reccomended too. there are some other great great re-issues and compilations on the Trojan label these days but you'd need some serious funds and all the time in the world and you wouldnt even scratch the surface. Ohh and the Don Letts compilations are real winners and the DJ scratchy one.

I prefer the Studio One stuff to Trojan. Well worth checking out Soul Jazz Records ska and reggae comps, great stuff.

Augustus Pablo has been getting the most plays recently.

My first gig was The Specials at the Royal Court, Liverpool, aged about 12?? As I remember Ghost Town was number one either at the time or shortly after. I felt dead grown up and loved the way Terry Hall and Jerry Dammers swigged from cans on stage. Anarchy.

I considered myself a bit of ska boy on the playground, but didn't have a fishtail and only one or two Selector records.

Then came Heaven 17, Spandau Ballet, Tears for Fears and everything went fluffy.

Have you seen this bonkers version of All Kinds of Everything by Terry Hall and Sinead O'Connor...?

fabulous "tribute to jackie mittoo" with all the usual suspects, sly n robbie, tyrone downie etc been in my car every hot day these last weeks

Image

my favourite dub album. Rico "warrika dub"
i had a white label of this back in the day but got it waylaid somewhere down the line
the original album "man from wareika" is top as well

Image

quite frankly a work of genius. burning spear "marcus garvey".
sublime singing and unspeakable groove. the original ja release is a bit stickier but i am a skinny white guy in england and i like this one. the dub of this, "garvey's ghost" is also sound. you can get 'em as a twofer nowadays.

Image

the congos "heart of the congos" fabulous record, lee perry in his finest pomp. great singing and thick and sticky, the only decent thing pimply red ever did was set up blood and fire records.

and then there's prince buster, and the skatalites, and max romeo, and, and.......

lamarr's great reggae show is the place to look when his next series is on.
