Ummm...I need to listen to it more carefully. Not very amazed at the first listens, i must admit, but hey,i truly admire Jarvis and Pulp is my favourite band ever;i really liked Jarvis' solo record;i'm always expecting great things from him,we'll see how "Angela" works as a whole. It may grow on me with the time,i hope.

i would say the album is more`'basic"and"dare i say it"rock n roll"than anything he has done before i love it personally. Its very direct,i got to play on a tune too :D

It sounds good the way you describe it Richard, maybe it's just i haven't got used to him being more Rock n Roll so to speak, say "fat children",not being that one my cuppa tea;but for instance from the 1st album i truly like songs like "don't let him waste your time"(one which really grew on me with the passing of time) "baby's coming back to me","tonight","i will kill again" or the precious "Big Julie".

Mrs SPT is called Angela and finds it all a bit worrying, despite being a big Jarv fan

Jarvis' new single Angela reminds much of Bryan Ferry/Roxy Music Old Grey Whistle Test era at times ..But as I liked that 70s music style..it's cool....as long as he doesn't do a remake of Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep by Middle of the Road..I'll still be a fan of his !!.. ;)

Good policy 8)

I've found a couple of links to download the album floating around the internet, but I want it to be a surprise :D I love going out and buying a CD on release, and hating the bus driver for not going fast enough on the way home to the CD player... Ahh, good times.

I'm excited :D

i don't know why but the whole record reminds me a little bit of this

Image
which is a boss album,i know jarv didn't think about it but it has a left field rock edge with a playful side to it,i love it as i have said erm......before.There seems to be a lot of issues resolved and new one's discovered too..any road its a boss record and its popular with all ages in our house

Hmm, I've never heard that album... I'll have a look.

The songs I've heard live definitely sounded different to anything I've ever heard from him before. It's another change of direction but still very definitely Jarvis. Aww I don't know how to explain it  But you know what I mean.

Only twelve more days!! :D
