I also love Buffalo Toms interpretation of "Going Underground".

aghhhhh nooooo :*: have to disagree with you. I thought that was pretty dreadful myself. At least they tried to make it different I guess but didnt work, for me anyway. Still maybe thats one of those that should be best left alone.

Rodney Crowell doing Pancho & Lefty..

The original was, and still is, a great version of a great song but I liked the feeling of space that Buffalo Tom went for. It would have been a bad idea to cover the song and try to make it sound just like the original. Maybe we should file this under "Brave attempt, but not for everyone".

here's another I dug up. Vetiver doing Roll On Babe which I think is up there with the original if I can make such a bold statement.

And grace is just the measure of a fall.

- Al Green - I Want to Hold Your Hand; demonstrates an amazingly soulful side to the song.

- Scott Walker - Mathilde; the production is just superb and the delivery of the line "Your baby boy's gone back to hell!" makes the hairs stand up.

- Joe Strummer - Silver and Gold; heartbreaking given it's place as the last song on his last album. So bittersweet but was a perfect end to his recordings. "I've got to hurry up before I grow to old..."

Mc Almont and Butler doing Zoom(fat larry's band). A bit cheesey but this version is great. Great guitar solo at the end.

Some really interesting covers on this site - a real wide range of stuff. Just been listening to Josh T Pearson covering Erasure's 'a little respect'!
