I actually confess to liking the Flying Lizards version of 'Money' and Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood's version of 'You've Lost That Loving Feeling' tops the original in my opinion. The Walker Brothers did a brilliant 'Stay With Me Baby' and I enjoyed Agnetha Faltskog's (Agnetha from Abba) CD of '60s covers which she released a few years ago. |

Rufus Wainwright's version of Across the Universe is beautiful. Recorded for the I Am Sam soundtrack, not seen the film though the video for this track is on youtube somewhere. |

Ditto for his version of Posten's 'Lydia' too. Flowered Dresses is from a whole album of covers called 'Unsung'. I don't think there's a bad track on it. If anybody has got the knack of taking somebody elses tune and making it their own it's Slaid. |

Johnny Cash - Hurt Johnny Cash - Father and Son (with Fiona Apple) Star Me Kitten - with the William Burroughs vocals. Absolutely nothing against Michael Stipe, its just Burroughs croaky voice adds something special to it. Just off the top of my head those three, its difficult cause I so often prefer the original version of a song. Will think of more though. |

Tony Christie's 'Made in Sheffield' springs to mind!I think every track on that album is a great cover (although I haven't heard all of the original versions).I especially love 'Born to Cry'. |
