I'm still not sure if it's a coincidence, but lap steel solos/parts comprise my favourite parts on each of the last three albums. The solo on 'Wading Through...' is for me the best moment on Coles Corner, and the one on 'Lady's Bridge' never fails to make me smile; it's a really consoling melody, and I'm glad it's played twice in the song. But the lap steel in 'Soldier On' makes me think of a giant slowly awakening or something; when the snare comes in, it takes on a David Gilmour/Pink Floyd massiveness (and I hope you'll take that as a positive reference, Mr. H.!).

love Floyd very much, the one on wading is two takes merged together,Ladys bridge i recall constructing in my head then doing it in one take.....Shez played the soldier on solo as i wanted every member of the band to have their"moment"on the album....it took him a bloody long time to get it right(i won't say how long )and he asked me to play the solo about four times but i insisted he played it i think we're both glad i did now...its beautiful Shez is a great player

He is indeed! Further proof of that was that he played your 'Lady's Bridge' solo absolutely note-perfectly every night I saw you in Dec. 2007.

One take? Wow...
