Saw RH play a superb gig at Bexhill last night. Thought the lapsteel solo played by Shez on 'Soldier On' was fantastic. Really sounded powerful. It's up there with my favourite 'Golden' on A Girl Called Eddy's album (a wonderful album too).

Anybody else have favourite solos from RH's productions or other artists?

Mark

I quite like John Triers keyboard solo on Roll River Roll.

as long as he don't come on stage dress as Liberace, that could be worrying. Agreed on the solo, as far as lap steel goes I know fuck all except that I love Jerry Byrd playing Hanlei moon,

I knew fuck all about him till I heard that very song on the Coffee & Cigarettes soundtrack, blown away. Soe great stuff on youtube.

His fan club site is great, some really tocuhing stuff written by one of his fans about corresponding with him up till Jery passed away, seemed like a very humble guy. http://www.jerrybyrd-fanclub.com/

Has to be the solo on No Way Home. You can feel yourself being drawn into it somehow ..>

The saw solo at Bexhill on Don't Get Hung Up On your Soul was quite magical. According to Richard, David Coulter can also knock up a good shed.

I was thinking on the way home that I might try the saw but go 'electric'! My dad's got a circular saw... I believe it's a Black'n'decker Telecaster. On second thoughts, this is perhaps not a wise idea :)

On 'Soldier On' when Shez is playing in the verse, there's a ghostly delay which sounds like an octave above and is really nice. Is the lapsteel going through a pitch shifter as well as a delay?

The lap steel solo on lady's bridge is one of the best for me live. I think Richard actually played it on the album but shez plays it live. I spoke to shez and dean on thursday night outside the olympia. Forgot to ask he about the tuning he uses. I think Richard said it might be C6 but he wasn't sure. They are absolute gentlemen. Top blokes
