Good choice Jean - John Martyn is a hero of mine :D I was lucky enough to see him live several times before he departed last year and even when racked with pneumonia and having to be wheeled on stage because of having only one leg he was still incredible.

Check out 'Solid Air by John Martyn, you won't be dissappointed. Vocals straight from the heart, very very chilled and 'May you never' one of my faves! :D

written specifically about his close friend Nick Drake, that one. The Solid Air album might just be his best too, in my opinion.

Solid Air is one of my top favourite albums full stop. Have very fond memories of seeing him live and may You Never was always a highlight.

I saw an elsebound train, on the overpass
In the driving rain, every ticket costs the same
For where you can't go
Mustang horses, champagne glasses
Anything frail anything wild
It's the price of living motion, what's beautiful is broken
And grace is just the measure of a fall.

I love Norma Waterson's version of Solid Air ... and checked John out on Youtube........might end up getting the Solid Air cd later - I do like real albums sometimes rather than compilations.......ordered this on the recommendation of Ian Clayton as an intro......and great price too.......

I am such a laid back person...I get the impression I am just going to love this guy........will be staying up late, chilling ......

it's a shame you came to him after he's left us as believe me his live shows were for the most part absolutely magic, but then of course the music lives on and will do for a long long time because to me it is both unique and timeless, you have many great albums awaiting you
