most excellent, I really only came to her and the music of The Staples Singers from some of Mavis's later stuff, this album initially...

been listening to the new one non stop since before it evencame out, both well worth checking out for hardened long time fans, she still has it and then some..

There's some ace stuff on that new album, definitely worth a look and her guitarist sounds a bit like Pops Staples in places (which seals the deal in my book). I love those two Stax albums she did, you can get 'em both on one cd now.

She's mighty. Love Pops guitar playing, deceptively simple but it isn't simple, has a sort of extra voice quality to it - not expressing that well, he accompanies and tunes in to the song rather then trampling all over it.
