Paul McCartney, Dublin (June 12th) Snoop Dogg @ Glasto Stevie Wonder @ Glasto (he sung 'Happy Birthday' on my birthday and I was there with about 30 friends/family!) Favourite records... See sew Lisa Hannigan Songs for Hire Karen Dalton Make the light Kate Rusby Favourite Richard Hawley gig(s)... Hard to choose, Buxton was fab because I got to meet to many of you guys Musicport had Norma and The Ocean right next to the sea! Think it has to be Glennfiddich because we got to see Mr H up close and personal, also the Dufftown ep songs were achingly beautiful live esp the river, plus free booze....and I met Helen and Debs, yeah that one for sure. Favourite gig(s) (non Hawley)... Kate Rusby at Christmas for making me feel all Christmassy and I saw Jane Hardy and we had a catch up over ice-cream int he interval also Grinderman were incredible, that has to be one of the top gigs of the year purely because I regressed 25 years and behaved like a teenager and got all hormonal over Nick Cave (phwooar!!) Greatest Musical discovery 2010... etc etc etc... So many, thanks to this forum, M.Ward, Micah P Hinson, Dave Sleney, The Janskys, Elvis Fontenot and the Sugar Bees! |

Edwyn Collins - Losing Sleep Eels - Tomorrow Morning Ali Farka Touré & Toumani Diabaté - Ali & Toumani The Divine Comedy - Bang Goes The Knighthood . I was begininng to think I was the only person in the world who heard this album. Not a whiff of it in any reviews of the year I've seen. Would put so many so called songwriters to shame. |

Favourite records... A top ten, in no particular order... Joel Plaskett - Three To One The National - High Violet Quiet Loner - Spectrology Boss Caine - The Ship That Sailed Otis Gibbs - Joe Hill's Ashes Deer Park - Deer Park Luke Doucet & The White Falcon - Steel City Trawler Tensheds - Crazy Beautiful Liam Dullaghan - Making History Huw Costin - LP2 Bit of a cheat as the last 2 aren't even out until this year, but that was the new stuff what i was mostly listened to. Justin Townes Earle would most likely have nudged into the list but only got it at Christmas and not had a proper listen yet. Favourite Richard Hawley gig(s)... Only one i did this year was the pickanick, so i guess it would have to be that. Favourite gig(s) (non Hawley)... The Neil McSweeney gigs at The Boardwalk, Tramlines in general again and far too many of my own to mention but lots of great nights at The Grapes. Greatest Musical discovery 2010 My favourite new to me listen but not new was probably Chuck Ragan's Gold Country. And also getting a copy of Case Hardin's Hard Feelings which has probably been my most played new but not new thing this year. |
