The King in my opinion is Oscillate Wildly by the Smiths

I also very much like RHs Kelham Island

It's a difficult art the instrumental, what other corkers are there out there?

What are peoples favourites?

Too many to mention Clough, but 'Holy Thursday' by David Axelrod is a particular favourite of mine, i never tire of listening to, quite an epic track. As is David Holmes 'Rodney Yates' used on the Ocean Eleven soundtrack, makes me want to just sit and stare out of the window and get lost in my own head...which i do quite often 8)

The entire surf music genre for me....at the moment, Los Straitjackets can do no wrong - here's a video I took of them, with the World Famous Pontani Sisters at the Lincoln Center NY, NY last summer -

Going Home - Mark Knopfler / Dire Straits

FBI / Highway Patrol - The Shadows

All of the intrumentals put down by Richard - a limited edition of any new CD on the far horizon with extra instrumental bonus track[s] would be ace...

Telstar - The Tornados - Still sends a shiver down my spine. Listen closely to it, it's amazing.

The Miracle - The Shadows, Man From Nowhere - Jet Harris.

Caravan & Aran Loop from Richard :thumleft:

I am currently enjoying the Y Niwl album (as recommended by RH) - all instrumental album and a great sound.

Indeed he was a god

Santo and Johnny-teardrop........

Duane Eddy anyone?........99% of what he did i love, the obvious classics you will know but i love First love, first tears and theme for moon children and house of rising sun...it changes day by day

Stranger on the shore-Acker Bilk.....classic melody

That dear old song-Anton Karas(of the third man theme fame)

the midnight cowboy theme-John barry featuring the awesome harmonica playing of Toots Theilemans---

Any instrumental by Little walter....there are loads and they are all beautiful.....Thats it,Flying saucer and Juke being my favourites

Few a few dollars more-the genius that is Ennio Morricone along with any of his hundreds of soundtracks(i collect them he did so many, often as many as 18 in one year....god like talent)

The Lonely surfer-Jack Nitzsche EVERY track on that album is boss

One flew over the cuckoo's nest-Jack Nitzsche......possibly the best ever

The Robinson Crusoe soundtrack-Mellin/Reverberi......awesome

Get carter-Roy Budd

Stratosphere boogie-Jimmy Bryant and Speedy west...staggering

Chet Atkins---------i am biased but most of his stuff does it for me.

Walk don't run-the ventures

Take Five-The Dave Brubeck Quartet

Preston Epps-bongo rock

Sandy Nelson-Teen beat

There are sooooooooo may many more

some of Y Niwl's stuff is really getting under my skin too

need i go on?

The theme from Cinema Paradiso is also very beautiful - my favourite of Ennio Morricone's.

indeed, anything by Morricone. I have a soft spot though in particular for his soundtrack to Once Upon A Time In The West.

And grace is just the measure of a fall.
