I saw an elsebound train, on the overpass
In the driving rain, every ticket costs the same
For where you can't go
Mustang horses, champagne glasses
Anything frail anything wild
It's the price of living motion, what's beautiful is broken
And grace is just the measure of a fall.

Jerry Lee Lewis - 'Great Balls Of Fire'

A man, a piano, bass and drums.

One take - all musicians playing in the same room at the same time.

One minute fifty four seconds of pure fucking dynamite.

So much choice ... good to see Teardrop Explodes and The Passions get a mention, undoubtedly Teenage Kicks and Waterloo Sunset have to be in there, but for me these are all in the running

The Jam - Going Underground
Elvis Costello and the Attractions - I can't stand up for falling down
The Smiths - This Charming Man
Kirsty MacColl - New England
Dionne Warwick - Walk on by
Dusty Springfield - Son of a preacherman

... the more I think about it the harder it gets :?

I heard this on Ashes to Ashes tonight and thought what a great pop song.

Also Eddie And The Hot Rods (The Rods) - Do Anything You Want To Do.
The Beach Boys - Good Vibrations
Stevie Wonder - Superstition
T-Rex - Metal Guru
Rolling Stones - Brown Sugar

I could go on...

This is just impossible - but if we're talking about pop then here are a few guaranteed to have me singing at the top of my voice in the car (with the windows firmly shut!!)

Elvis - If I Can Dream, Suspicious Minds
Kinks - Waterloo Sunset
McAlmont and Butler - Yes
Stones - Come On
Walker Brothers - Love Her
Etta James - At Last

I'd definitely have the McAlmont Butler and Walker Brothers tracks in my faves, add in Cousteau Last Good Day of the Year and that is possibly my top 3 all time singles.

Been cracking out the pop tonight after reading this -

Heart Of Glass - Blondie
Brass In Pocket - Pretenders
Dance To The Music - Sly & The Family Stone
Like A Prayer - Madonna
Raspberry Beret - Prince
I Want You Back - Jackson 5
Summer Breeze - Isley Brothers
I Believe In Miracles - Jackson Sisters
Crazy In Love - Beyonce
Hey Ya - Outkast
Across 110th St - Bobby Womack
Young Americans - David Bowie
Making Plans For Nigel - XTC
Groove Is In The Heart - Deee Lite
Gudbuy T'Jane - Slade
Jeepster - T- Rex
You Wear It Well - Rod Stewart

Good call on the Detroit Emeralds Susie, my mum used to play that all the time when I was kid, great tune.
