One of the founding members of chart-topping Birmingham group Dexys Midnight Runners celebrates the launch of his solo career and debut solo album with a special gig at The Greystones in Sheffield on Tuesday 28th February. Pete Williams, bass player and singer with Dexys, launches the album “SEE” ahead of a new Dexys album expected this year.

Pete Williams is a gem, a great live artist. Add a Sheffield connection to that and you have a great night in prospect. The album was made at Axis Studios in the city and features Richard Hawley on guitar.

Rehearsals are under way for Pete's tour...Pete, and long time musical collaborator Fred Skidmore, have joined forces with Al Gare (Imelda May Band); Dean Beresford & Shez Sheridan (both from the Richard Hawley Band) and Paul Taylor (Snowboy) to perform new album "SEE" live.
The sound that this band makes is awe-inspiring.

Support comes from The Janskys.

Admission for The Greystones show is £8 in advance or £10 on the door. Tickets are available now from www.wegottickets.com/event/151113 or www.seetickets.com or direct from www.boohoomusic.co.uk

There's an interesting interview with Pete here talking about the album being recorded in Sheffield, with Hawley and some of the band. Also news on Dexys and the forthcoming shows... http://thehearingaid.blogspot.com/2012/ ... l?spref=fb

I got roped into being the backline tech with Dexys in Mountain Studios, Montreux in May 1984, before that in Oulaw Studios, Bitmingham. Trevor Burton was on Bass, though, not Pete.

Despite the best efforts of myself and the late Tom Dowd, not much came out of it.

Mark and I went to see Pete Williams at the Glee Club back in February and are seeing them again next Friday at The Hare and Hounds, Kings Heath Brum. Along with Dean, Shez, Al Gare and the rest of the band Pete Williams is absolutely brilliant live. I have played his new album "See" in the car practically every day since it was released.

My favourite track is "Trust me" where Pete implores us 3 times at the start of each chorus to "trust me" and then follows up with the line ".......to fuck it all up again"
Brilliant line.
The first track "Reconsider this" is also a classic....
