Counting Tramlines as 1 i reckon i've attended 67 musical offerings this year. Top gigs in no particular order and not counting my own:

Justin Townes Earle + James Walbourne @ Memorial Hall
Curtis Eller @ The Greystones
Neil McSweeney @ SoYo (Tramlines)
Darren Hanlon @Lantern Theatre
Chris Mills @ The Maze
Richmond Fontaine @ The Greystones
Groanbox @ The Redhouse
Martin Stephenson & The Daintees @ The Greystones
Neil McSweeney + David J. Roch Xmas show @ The Greystones

Top moments:

Magnolia Summer + Dolly Varden + The Wynntown Marshals joining forces for an encore of "Birds Without A Wire" at The Greystones
The bits when Simone Felice sang Felice Brothers songs @ The Greystones
David J. Roch prowling around Bar 23 unplugged
Laura Gibson's crowd singalong when closing her support set for Richmond Fontaine
Similarly Joe Solo using the whole crowd as percussionists
Finding somewhere new to do gigs...

Low:

Black Spiders supporting Hayseed Dixie @ Corp

I saw Pulp. Thought I might die of happiness - they were properly incredible. And they headlined. And Laura Marling's beautiful warm voice echoing round St Gile's Cathedral in Edinburgh... And me & Mr DT's first ever gig together - Elbow at the SECC. It was incredible.

Mmmm, a good year for my ears... Sadly I have less than no money so seems it'll a long time before my next

2011 was an incredible year for gigs for me - I was so, so lucky to see some fantastic bands - old and new. Way out in front was Jackson Browne with Dawes and Jonathan Wilson at the Borderline (and all for £7!) - I think I was actually hyperventilating at one point I was so excited (sad, I know). Closely followed by Ray Davies' closing night of the Meltdown Festival at the Festival Hall, Roy Harper at the Festival Hall (with special guest Jimmy Page), Sufjan Stevens at the Festival Hall, Antony Hegarty at Wilderness Festival, John Grant with Midlake at the Festival Hall and Josh T Pearson at the Purcell Room. Looking forward to hearing more from James Walbourne and Jonathan Wilson who I saw for the first time this year - oh and a special mention for the Sonics - must have been the best atmosphere ever generated by a bunch of seventy year olds!
