Many thanks to all of you who turned out in such numbers last night for the fabulous Oh My Darling. The girls were thrilled with the response and have declared it the highlight of their 53-date European tour! Another boost to Sheffield's musical reputation.

Next up we have The Orbitsuns on Wednesday 6th July. Hailing from Detroit the band are purveyors of good time, outlaw country and honky tonk. They are touring new album 'Give The Orbitsuns What They Want' and have a reputation for fantastic live shows. Expect plenty of songs featuring trains, horses and whisky! The Orbitsuns have already stormed the Glastonbury Festival - headlining the Bourbon Street Jazz and Blues Stage in front of a crowd of 1200 enthusiasts - and are now heading to The Greystones supported by Levenshulme's legendary blues guitarist Zacc Rogers (with all six of his guitars) and his velvet singing voice.

The Orbitsuns have a rich musical heritage. Fronted by Vinnie Dombroski, all the guys in Orbitsuns have played with a host of other bands but this band seems to have been steadily gathering momentum to make this the focus of their energies. Added to that they feature Jackson Smith on guitar. Son of Patti Smith and Fred 'Sonic' Smith of the MC5 (and married to Meg White of the White Stripes), Jackson has played with many big names including Patti herself and Elton John. This should be a fabulous live show. Doors open 7.30 p.m. Advance tickets priced £8 available from the venue or www.wegottickets.com/event/116009 or www.seetickets.com

Following The Orbitsuns we have Austin, TX, singer songwriter Danny Schmidt visiting The Greystones on Sunday 10th July. Anyone who has had the good fortune to hear his latest album, 'Man of Many Moons', will tell you that he is one of the best songwriters to emerge in the last 10 years. Oh My Darling are huge fans and it's easy to see why. His songs are poetic and insightful, they draw you in and hold your attention.

Maverick Magazine awarded the album 5-stars and said: "There are inevitable comparisons with Cohen and Dylan, but these are songs of such quality and beauty that they more than hold their own in this exalted company." Q Magazine was equally enthusiastic: "With beautifully crafted, lonesome pines music and complex beguiling words, he would've fitted neatly on the bill at any '60s coffee house alongside Townes Van Zandt or Leonard Cohen." Danny is too good to remain an underground cult and this show is too good to miss.

He's supported by Emma Thorpe (The Listeners) and doors open 7.30 p.m. Advance tickets priced £8 available from the venue or www.wegottickets.com/event/118231 or www.seetickets.com

Two piece rock and roll group Wreckless Eric & Amy Rigby have individually been making distinctive and original music for decades, he a British iconoclast and wild-card survivor of the early Stiff Records, she as a long-standing heroine of the New York pop scene. For the last three years they have been touring in the US, UK and Europe. In 2008 the self-styled `two piece rock ‘n’ roll group’ released their debut album “Wreckless Eric & Amy Rigby”, which enjoyed rapturous critical acclaim in the USA and has been the subject of a four star review in Mojo. They have also recently recorded a new double A side single, “Teflon Wok” c/w “Bobblehead Doll”. Catch them at The Greystones - supported by Lucy Spraggan - on Friday 29th July. Tickets from venue or www.wegottickets.com/event/118192.

Hope to see you there.
Simon
