***THE BLACK THUNDER REVUE***Socrates Johnson were formally a four piece bluesy rock n’ roll band, whose male/female fronted retro sound was full of passion and melody. Originally formed in 2007, they went through some line up changes, but continued to build their reputation as a quality live act. Following on from recent recording activity the band have now renamed themselves The Black Thunder Revue. Described as sounding like a cross between Tom Petty and Neil Young, they offer something a little different on the current underground scene. One early review of the former band commented how they “strummed and harmonised like West Coast veterans”. We can only agree when they also summed up with “well worth a look”.
“
Socrates Johnson stepped up and filled the place with an energy and talent that is uncommon for a gig that only cost three quid. Each track was well constructed, masterfully performed and an absolute pleasure to hear.”

Sandman Magazinehttp://www.myspace.com/socratesjohnsonband***CHRIS MURPHY & BOXER GENIUS***Chris Murphy & Boxer Genius are a folk, alt-rock band from Sheffield. Originally formed by Murphy in 2004 (and recording under the name The Greenlovers), the band have garnered a reputation for a powerful, epic, folk-rock sound, but yet have won plaudits from fans of a wide variety of musical genres.
Fantastic feedback has always followed the guys around and following in the wake of the single ‘Brighton’ released in February 2008, and the success of the album ‘Another Reunion’ from which it was taken, Exposed magazine described them as “ridiculously accomplished” while the Sheffield Star labelled Murphy “a maker of epic songs and muscular ballads”.
Recent years have seen line up changes and departures but the four piece are now back to a full complement and will be releasing brand new album From Dark To Neon very soon.

Pearson and Sharon Van Etten. Having previously played in bands, this new project brings his own personal take on all things music and life and has already resulted in the release of his debut EP.
