On Tuesday March 18th, WagonWheel Presents… is delighted to have been asked to host Grassoline as they launch their brand new EP Here But Not At Home Vol. 2 at The Greystones. Volume 1 won them may new fans and they return to bring us more with support from their guests Canyon Family and Tom Baxendale. Advance tickets priced at £4 are available from or entry on the night will be £5. Doors open 7.30pm for an 8pm start.

***GRASSOLINE***

Chesterfield’s Grassoline play a bluegrass influenced brand of alt-country featuring guitar, double bass, fiddle, banjo and mandolin and sometimes more. In 2012 they released their debut CD “Mountain & Grave”. Americana UK described the 6 tracks as having “the makings of something really special”. We wouldn’t disagree.

“Grassoline are not made for these times. Theirs is a music of epic grandeur and epic heartbreak that is so complete within itself that it is not of the tradition, it’s not just bluegrass or folk tinged transplanted balladry, it’s the living music of a colonised landscape. Grassoline are a band more than worthy of your attention whether on record or live.” Americana-UK.com

They’ve since followed up that release with the EP Here But Not At Home Vol. 1 which has been winning them many more plaudits. Tonight they launch Volume 2.

“Exquisite, jewel-like songs of a seriously pin drop nature.” Fatea Magazine

“This quartet aren’t your archetypal country band. This music is genuine. These are people with an exquisite talent who unpretentiously love making music.” Now Then Magazine

“This is the proof, if it was needed, that Grassoline is a band of substance, as they have consolidated their sound with another set of perfect songs. If you’re going to watch a band, then this is the band to watch.” Americana-UK.com

***CANYON FAMILY***

Born in 2012 and making their live debut at that summer’s Tramlines festival, Canyon Family play hazy Americana. A love of classic country duets and folk ballads from both sides of the Atlantic has influenced the sound. A patchwork of voices and simply plucked acoustic guitar underpins all their work, hinting at sixties folk waifs, Vashti Bunyan and Karen Dalton, as well as tragic country idols such as Townes Van Zandt and Gram Parsons. It’s the shuffle beat, the lilt in the voice, the glint in the eye. Its driving over the Snake Pass on a warm summer evening, with a well worn tape of “Rumours” on constant rotation.

“The music is ethereal and one tambourine short of Mazzy Star‘s long lost sister.” Sloucher.org

***TOM BAXENDALE***

The Rainy Day Club were are a Sheffield three piece whose distinct songs combined elements of alt. country, new wave, rockabilly, pre-Beatles pop and post-Dylan americana. Their debut album, Pale White Hands – recorded by Bromheads’ Tim Hampton at his Crystal Ship studio – was released in 2013. Tonight frontman Tom Baxendale plays a set of his solo material.
