Stiv Cantarelli & The Silent Strangers’ second album Banks Of the Lea (released last October on Stovepony Records) was recorded on the banks of the River Lea at Gizzard Recording, Hackney Wick with producer Pete Bennett of noted Lancastrian post-punks Monkey Island and engineer (and studio owner) Ed Deegan (White Stripes, Mudhoney, The Fall, The Cribs, etc). The album received considerable praise in print and online media, including major features in Vive Le Rock, R2 and Tattoo Planet, and substantial airplay, including BBC 6 Music, Resonance FM, NTS and TeamRock.

Stiv Cantarelli initially came to prominence as leader of Italy’s number one alt.country band Satellite Inn, who were recruited by North Carolina label MoodFood as a replacement for the ascendant Whiskeytown. Touring the States intensively, Cantarelli became firm friends with Portland, Oregon roots legends Richmond Fontaine, releasing several records on their El Cortez label and employing them as his backing band on his solo debut Innerstate. It was this connection that found him at the wheel of a tiny Fiat beside Bob Mould for an Italian odyssey during the miserable winter of 2009.

In the Silent Strangers, Stiv is joined by former Satellite Inn rhythm section Fabrizio Gramellini (bass) and Antonio Perugini (drums) along with Roberto Villa (guitar and sax). They released their debut album Black Music / White Music in 2013.

A thrilling post-millennial blues joyride. Richly rewarding, but not for the faint of heart. 5/5R2 magazine

Crackles with electric intensity. A glorious racket. 9/10Vive Le Rock

A dark brutalist beauty. A hot contender for my favourite album of the year.Louder Than War

***CHRIS MURPHY & BOXER GENIUS***

Chris Murphy & Boxer Genius are a folk, alt-rock band from Sheffield. Originally formed by Murphy in 2004 (and recording under the name The Greenlovers), the band have garnered a reputation for a powerful, epic, folk-rock sound, but yet have won plaudits from fans of a wide variety of musical genres.

Fantastic feedback has always followed the guys around and following in the wake of the single ‘Brighton’ released in February 2008, and the success of the album ‘Another Reunion’ from which it was taken, Exposed magazine described them as “ridiculously accomplished” while the Sheffield Star labelled Murphy “a maker of epic songs and muscular ballads”.

After line up changes and departures, as of 2012 the four piece have been back to a full complement and in 2013 released latest album From Dark To Neon.

***KC VIDEO***

There’s not a lot we can say about KC Video, they’re so new that may not even end up being their name yet, but here are the facts as we’re allowed to tell you them:

– KC Video will as minimum be comprised of a solo set from Coma Girls front man Chris Hickin

– there could be drums and bass and more guitars from members of Coma Girls and The Great Eastern among others

– you don’t want to be that guy/girl that missed this.
