Thank you!

Glad to hear your daughter enjoyed it so much. I'm really looking forward to it... I think I might want to teach one day.

My daughter also wants to teach. She started a teaching degree straight from school, but probably wasn't quite ready for it at that stage. So, she dropped out and is two years into a different degree. She then plans to do a PGCE and go into teaching that way. Good luck for the rest of the exams m'dear.

Thank you everybody

And that sounds like a sensible plan, Prudence. I think I want to do something else first. I'm having a bit of a career-related crisis at the moment. My whole life, I've been told 'you've got ages to decide' and known exactly what I wanted to do. This year a really amazing teacher came along and made me realise I might want to do something different. So suddenly I have to apply for a university place at the beginning of next year and now I don't know any more  I'll figure it out...

My wifes wanted to be a teacher from the age of 6...

She's been teaching just over 20 years now and loves it...

After Uni she wanted to get into PR or sales - maybe because I was in sales and the money was better than a new qualified teacher...

Luckily she stuck with teaching - and I got out of sales...

You HAVE got plenty of time Disneytime; my son's in his second year at uni and still isn't sure what he wants to do, but has narrowed down to three possible career paths. Ideally he says he would like to have a go at each of them at some point in his life.

In the meantime, he's travelled further in two years than I've travelled in the past ten (and that takes some doing because I am travel mad!). He's off to the far east this summer, Russia and Mongolia during the Easter holidays next year and one final expedition from Boston to Buenos Aires next summer between graduation and (hopefully) starting work. He works at Sainsbury's during term time to fund his travels and works to a very tight budget but has an absolute ball and says that his travels and the various people he's met have helped him decide what he doesn't want to do. You've got your head screwed on Missy,; you'll be absolutely fine :D

That does sound good... I know applying for university doesn't mean I'm stuck on that course for life or anything, but it's just that so much has suddenly changed in the last year after knowing what I wanted to do since I was four. It's just annoying :*:

I'll come up with something. I'm doing what I love in school next year, so hopefully that'll clear things up.

Thanks everyone!

They arrive about 6.30 in the morning round here and wake everybody up. Can't complain - I'm sure life is better for them being there. Except the one who puts the bin back directly in front of my gate which, for reasons known only to the man who lived here before us, opens outwards, so then you either have to knock the bin over or climb out to move it. Decisions, decisions...
