putting aside these hilarious jokes and that...wasn't it actually invented, or at least brushed up from nothing, by Hallmark? I know theres lots of things we take for granted as ye olde were put up jobs [canny book called 'The Invention of Tradition' by - I think - Eric Hobsbawm laid a few out]

I can cope with the Valentine's cards to one's other half... but when you get the cards 'from the cat', 'to my son/daughter/mum and dad/niece/friend' I think it has gone WAY too far.
