I saw an elsebound train, on the overpass
In the driving rain, every ticket costs the same
For where you can't go
Mustang horses, champagne glasses
Anything frail anything wild
It's the price of living motion, what's beautiful is broken
And grace is just the measure of a fall.

Seeing as I am the person that started the Friday night and I'm not going out thread, I felt I should respond. It seems that I have pissed off the admin, for which I am sorry.

When I joined the board I got the feelng that it was generally just people having a chat about all things Hawley related and sometimes off topic too. Noting the Misc. section seemed to be a "free for all area" I started this frivolous thread because to me that seemed the "tone" of the board and in particular the "tone" of that part of the forum. It probably provided no entertainment for anyone but myself, although a few other members joined in and we almost had a party atmosphere at one point.

I feel sad that things have escalated in this way and it seems that my impressions of this board were incorrect. Next time I'm in on my own, I'll keep myself to myself....

p'raps we should just all meet up down the pub?! :*:

Keep on as you have been doing eezer - its only the minority that try and spoil things for the majority - and the majority are quite content to read and join in!

I don't think Eoin (the bastard that he is)'s point was threads like that should be a no-no, just that there's been a run on threads about nothing (as opposed to a thread drifitng off topic), and that perhaps idle chit chat should be confined to one place and not cluttering up several other parts of the forum.

Can we have a "Hawley saloon bar" for Luke's benefit?

That's how I still see the forum, eezer.

I love Richard's music, but I prefer to chip in with lighter, fluffy stuff while others take forum life more seriously or talk about technical issues way beyond me. That's great. Different people, different personalities, different reasons for pissing away our time on here.

When I stop enjoying it or feel I'm not contributing anything or people turn against me (join the queue) then I'll walk away. For now, it's great fun and offers camaraderie.

The Hawleyboard under Rev Richard is a broad church which can house us all!

As Craig says, I think Eoin was making the point that fluff can be contained in one section...although in practice that might be like catching smoke. :*: Stick around, eezer. The Crazy Gang needs you.

Perhaps we need a 'Lurv Week' when everyone's nice to each other?

dont you mean 'fishpersons' corner....

fishperson? wouldn't that be officially a mermaid/man or try saying merperson fast after a glass, mind you try saying anything when you've just been glassed...... (hello Marie by the way, an enlivening presence and sur eto give Dave competition on the swearbox or should that be the fuckin swearbox. )

I think you all have a point and if we joined them up we'd have a compass and that has all points of the compass and that is a good thing because if you lose direction then you need to find your way back.

Now losing direction is one of the strengths of this forum and the way that somehow it all reassembles itself whenever people catch a cold or poke someone in the eye.

I think the general point od Eoin's post is valid i.e. you don't always need a new wheel to get the car started and it's handy if the key goes in the same hole every time and then we know where we are. At the same time we all get drunk and can't always find the key and have to improvise....I knew there was a thread about being pissed the other week but couldn't find it when I was looking for it and I couldn't wait to sober up and locate the right thread and made me own bit of bollocks (which I am more than happy to have deleted as it saves me stumbling across my severe intoxication and thinking what the fuck was that all about).

Two points re Staying in Friday Night 1) that is self evident so good thread but must try harder on the subject line and 2) it's had at least one post today Tuesday and that is surely illegal and the thread should only be accessible on Fridays.

I saw esau sitting on the seesaw

Otherwise it's fine and I like the variety and work on the idea that if it doesn't interest me I don't read it and if someone bores me ......as if..........then i don't read them if I can help it.

and Dave, it is vital to discuss the relative merits of Chuck Berry's trousers for an understanding of the twentieth century rock n roll apparel. Check or plaid? same difference ......must get glasses (full ones of course)

Anyway, I'm just going to see about world peace but should say cheers Eoin for a great opportunity to ramble on but also for the helpfulness and common sense that you guys in pink all bring to what must be extremely tedious at times (deleting spammers sounds like something to employ a teenager training for Japanese virtual gaming competitions to get their training in)

ps forgot to add the advice I offered last week on this prickly issue

this is the the first time I've bin on here in a yeon and can I just say, out fucking loud, can everyone just take a GIANT CHILL PILL and stop yarping on about 'you said this' 'don't say that in this thread' 'oh my god you dared to burp on that thread when you should have farted'

This is a pretty sad, lonely, fucked up world people and to take this forum seriously is a damned fine fucking shame.

And if you don't like my language you can lick my lily white ass.

forum n 1. (Rom. Ant.) public place, market-place, place of assembly for judicial and other business, esp. at Rome. 2. place of or meeting for public discussion: periodical etc. giving opportunity for debate etc; court, tribunal, (lit. or fig., the forum of conscience etc .)3. (Sheff. Mod.) fun place for Hawleyites to admire the work of The Boss and to talk about all things musical and cultural 4. A place for Hawleyguys to witter about beer and farts 5. A place for Hawleygals to twitter about Shoes, Chablis and Shez (but never to talk about RH's suits or personal attributes)

Let's all chill and play Happy Families (in the Miscellaneous thread, of course  ) :D
