Yeah, shame eh? I heard him on the radio a few weeks ago being interviewed. Still totally with it, very funny and quick. I remember him cooking on the telly when I was a kid.

A shame indeed...my earliest recollections of him were from the late 1960's, when he did those deadpan style doggy food (Minced Morsels?) adverts on TV with a Bloodhound - I seem to recall the line "Henry and I have been shopping..."

Very said. In my childhood, I remember those wonderful classic ads with the bloodhound, Henry. They're still trotted out as examples of the cult commercial. He was so versatile as well - and incredibly 'well connected'. Sigmund Freud for a grandfather and Lucian Freud for a brother. Wow! Occasionally, I llistened to 'Just A Minute' and he was so quick and hilarious but always so droll and deadpan. Marvellous!
