He had some great guests in his Saturday telly show. And 'Scarlet Ribbons', one of his signature tunes, is just a lovely song.
I was really sad to hear that he's left us x

I loved Val Doonican when I was a small child. I cried when his series ended apparently. He seemed so safe and comforting somehow. Please, please please let him stay that way. My childhood is being ripped apart by revelations - Rolf Harris, It's a Knockout man (whose name escapes me - Stuart thingy). Although Jimmy Saville - well he was always creepy.
RIP Val - sorry to sully this page with my other references.
