My most abiding memory of him in Sheffield, was of his face on the mural in the Boardwalk. Always sad to lose a man of talent.

Bryan Ledgard has posted some photos on Facebook, taken by Mike Ford, of when Joe turned up and sang with Frank White's band. Bryan's post -

"A few photos from my good friend and photographer Mike Ford, taken 40 years ago when Joe joined the legend Frank White at one of his gigs at a local Rotherham pub on Westgate. Joe loved it so much that he returned for the Sunday session, where Mike managed to get this set of shots which appeared in the following week's NME. Thanks for the memories, Mike, hope you don't mind me sharing."

Can't unfortunately link to the FB photos.

Would love to see them,I don't do Facebook though,Joe also played with Frank at the Black Swan in.....I think.....71/72 straight after the mad dogs and Englishmen tour,I was in Franks band in the 80's when Joe got up at the Pheasant.....although memories of that are very hazy.....

Such a sad loss, my mom & dad were in the pheasant one Christmas eve when Joe turned up and got up with Frank, might have even been when you were playing Richard as my dad remembers seeing you play too. . they always say it was one of the best nights ever. Mom got a Christmas kiss of Joe too which is probably why she remembers it.

Just been listening to one of his later albums and what a set of pipes, like many locally I have friends and family including my own folks who vividly to this day recall seeing him live in the 60s in sheffield and the man had charisma and soul in the extreme.
