Got a message from an ex-student of mine today - the one that works for the BBC. She's just been over to the States for a month or so and has recorded a bunch of stuff for a forthcoming show which deals with the death of Buddy Holly (amongst other things). They were over there for the anniversary of the death and - amongst other very cool things - went up in the same type of plane that the crash happened in - a Beechcraft Bonanza and took the same flight path as the fatal flight.... Her photos on Facebook are stunning...wish I could share.

What she was asking about was if I knew of the online or other whereabouts of letters from Buddy's mother, Ella, to the parents of Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper. She knows I'm a big Holly fan, but I drew a blank. She's got some leads to go on though, so hopefully they will prove fruitful.

Not sure when the show will be broadcast, but it should be a fine treat. Becky, the ex-student was assistant producer on the Punk Britannia series and also was involved in the Carole King & friends show that RH did. She's a huge music fan and I know that the Buddy Holly stuff is going to be done with great love and enthusiasm.
