Yeah, complete and total bummer. Although making it to 70 is pretty damn good, given the way he rolled. :-)

Lemmy's birthplace - Shaftesbury Avenue Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, 1.4 miles from my house -taken on the way to the supermarket. In the background is Port Vale FC, where Motorhead and Ozzy Osbourne played the "Heavy Metal Holocaust" in 1981. I remember that they hired a couple of coaches to take the local old biddies away to Blackpool for the day, to save them from the noise. Robbie Williams lived a couple of streets away from here too, but that's another story.

I have been reading so many memories from people who knew him in various capacities, and they are all exactly alike: he was as solid a guy as they come. Whether these folks knew him intimately or had but the briefest of brushes, it seems he was universally admired for his kindness. Two friends of mine either worked show security for or shared a stage with him, it happens, and it's just extra gratifying to know that LEMMY made their day, in some small way, once upon a time. Throw the horns, people. \m/

Surprisingly touching tribute from, of all things, a Finnish milk company.
