1-4 on the sacked managers front too. Maybes Chris is on his way to Ewood Park? He'll only have the egos of the board to cope with there at leasr.

Not that i know anything, being a classless air headed Bigg Market Geordie lass (Well kind of....does the Old George count????) but there's such a lot of bad feeling about Mike Ashley...the despair over the fact that such a loser as Pardew (and even I know that. Heard some director or other being asked his opinion of him on the local news and he couldn't find one positive thing to say about him) could be offered such a steal of a contract, in a Toon nightclub, is really bringing people down. Ashley is loathed, his business is shite, even the club merchandise is inferior so he's not got much chance of injecting any sort of passion or loyalty into the team if the extending stuff he sells on the club's behalf is rubbish.Oh and the remarks about Newcastle 'Thinking they're a big club'.....what exactly do you base that on? The fans are sick of the whole thing and they know the club's run into the ground. Absolutely right to say that they're frustrated and angry about this.

Gan on Team Gary :*: :*: :*: :*: :*:

In one sense they qualify.
They are apparently the biggest one-club city in Europe. This means that they have a huge catchment area from which to entice a large fanbase.

They have a truly fantastic stadium and the facilities are up there with the biggest of clubs in England & Europe.

In another sense they aren't:
They do not have the pedigree of a big club, and cannot claim by achievement to merit a comparison with real (in footballing terms at least) big clubs.

Having a large ground and a lot of fans to go at does not make you big.
You have to have earned greatness by achievement and over many years. A golden spell of a few years in the 1950's does not qualify.

Win three or four league titles, win a cup or two, make some moves in Europe and you may get the chance to move up with the big boys and deserve to be there.

Are Newcastle United a big Club?
Not Yet.

You've obviously never heard any Newcastle fan on 606 or You're On Sky Sports, a true representation of the mass opinion i'd say.

Big club - yes.
Successful club - definitely not, since the early 50s!

The fans are frustrated but aren't all fans - e.g. Chelsea win the league but want the European Cup! Remembering that it's not too long ago that Newcastle were the main challengers to Man Utd and were in the last 16 of the Champions League in 2002-03 and still won nowt isn't that frustration understandable?

Unfortunately the people who run the club manage to put it in the limelight more than it should be and the media are happy to go with this. For those who don't think it's a big club compare the media time and column inches devoted to Hughton's sacking and compare them with those generated by Allardyce's sacking.

Hello Matchfacts

That's a bad example.
The media were more interested in Hughton's sacking because he's a nice guy and he did a good job,Also the papers know everybody likes a good laugh at the pantomime going on up there.....Allardyce was more or less ignored because he's a fat cunt and nobody in the media likes him,and Rovers fans just shrugged their shoulders.

I saw an elsebound train, on the overpass
In the driving rain, every ticket costs the same
For where you can't go
Mustang horses, champagne glasses
Anything frail anything wild
It's the price of living motion, what's beautiful is broken
And grace is just the measure of a fall.
