Remember the 82 World Cup and how he just seemed to stroll around the pitch almost as if there wasn't an obstacle. Reading his obituaries it's clear he was much more than a fantastic footballer. Always remeber the back of the Evening Chronicle having the headline that he was about to sign for Newcastle, this in the days when the most recent South American import to the north east, Claudio Marangoni had flooped at Sunderland. I was relieved he stayed put mind, but would have liked to see him play. RIP |
