This may not be true, and I'm sorry to be negative, but according to a girl I know who was at another gig here..... there is NO bar and NO drinking allowed!

...and it's called 'Leisureland...'?

Might have a look into this though - went over to Ireland for the Roisin Dubh gig in February and had a fantastic time.

Ok... I rang Leisureland...

The girl told me:

(a) She could see no record of an upcoming Richard Hawley gig.
(I know that doen't mean anything though, I am sure it is happening).

(b)It IS true about the ban on booze!!!
She said it's possible that an artist can get a special licence, for example, when Shane McGowan played there in the past few months, his 'people' acquired a special licence allowing them to have a bar at the venue.
(Not a huge surprise re: Shane McGowan! :*: )

So, it could well be a tee-total night!
Wouldn't put me off though!

ok, well safe to say there won't be a bar then, does anybody know if there would be a boozer within walking distance or whatever. i don't mind so much as I rarely drink during a gig but a pre and post gig pint or 3 is kinda tradtion.

According to ads in Irish newspapers, this gig's venue has now changed to the Radisson SAS Hotel in Galway.

Google Map records no Pubs near the Lough Atalia[?] Road...

Tho' the centre of Galway isn't far off...

I wish I was going...

But work and a lack of holidays is getting in the way...

your not wrong, if you wanted to stay in the Radisson itself its 150 a night for the standard room, we get a corporate rate with them in work which i could use but even still going to be looking elsewhere methinks.
