What a great time we had in Holmfirth! Mrs LPD and self arrrived about 3.30 'ish and after a few hairy moments trying to park the car in the the Old Bridge Hotel car park we settled our nerves with a couple of glasses of Black Sheep "Golden Sheep" ale -and boy did that set the scene for the evening ahead!
Met Alan (aka Lofty Eric) who, while I was away from the table, came into a crowded Old Bridge Hotel and walked up to Mrs LPD and said "I am looking for LPD?" How he chose Mrs LPD to ask from all the other people I am not sure. Possibly my earlier postings of Mrs LPD's significant proportions was the clue? Also met the wonderful Jean who despite her Elvis obsession is a very charming lady. Likewise Mandy G is a very bubbly and chatty lady and nothing like her avatar. Mr Mandy G was also good company although it proved difficult for him to get a word in with Mandy and Jean in full-flow!
After a very good meal and several more glasses of the aforementioned ale we were primed for the gig and it was as good as ever and the songlist proved to be spot on. The new stuff was excellent live and the addition of the new band member playing saw, violin, ukulele and accoustic guitar helped to create much of the atmosphere of the record. If this was the warm-up gig the rest of the tour is to be fantastic!
Jean - your pictures outside the hotel with Mandy G and Alan and Shez look great! If you look at the one with you and Shez you can just see the elusive Mrs LPD in the window behind you!
