well, i have to admit i'm not keen on the new album, the lyrics just don't do it for me (with the exception of 'open up your door') and i can't get past that. so i wasn't sure how i was going to feel about the gig. anyway i thought it was a really great performance - second only to the very first hawley gig i went to in 2005. his voice was just wonderful and the whole sound of the band was fantastic. they did every song from the new album, which of course is understandable, and although i still feel the same about it, the perfomance was very impressive.

highlights for me were 'open up your door', 'hotel room' (thank you!), 'run for me' and of course 'the ocean'.

nice one.

so who was that girl who kept shoutin out then?

There was no football on Friday night.

But there was still drunken tossers chanting pointless, unpleasant football based inanities on the train on the way home. You don't have to be pissed up at a football match (whichever day of the week) to make a twat of yourself in front of everyone. Ask any England fan.

Still it was a sublime gig, the voice, the lighting, the atmosphere. It felt like I was at the cinema at times due to the panaromic sound and visuals. And when the lights flooded the place during the key change in 'Open Up Your Door'...it was like...fucking WOW!

I'm glad you didn't allow the daft cow heckling for 'Serious' to ruin the flow. You put her in her place really well. Hasn't she ever fucking heard of house music?

Enjoy the tour Richard. You're still the boss. Ignore the mentalists who've been giving you grief. Fuck 'um!

Aye its not nice - had a similar experince in a pub with some drunken football supporters a couple of days after The Bridgewater gig - initially it was ooops lets feck off - then realised they were all scousers down for the Chelsea game - and were at greater risk of damaging themselves rather than anybody else - and so enjoyed 90 minutes of unique choral music...

So why bring football into it? They're not tossers because of football, they're just drunken tossers. Like the kind who spend 2 hours screeching for one particualr song to be played. Or perhaps she was a typical Hawley fan and lets all be tarred with her brush as she's the one who gets noticed.

Not that it actually matters much, as the comment was based on how much i enjoyed the gig despite the tossers. They did a pretty good job of bringing football into it, though. Don't actually know or care whether they follow football or not, perhaps i should interview them mid rant. :*: Or should i categorically state, for anyone who is unsure, that not all football fans are like that.
