The Tory tossers are having a get-together in Manchester this week and I have had the following email from the venue:

Urgent Traffic and Parking Info

Dear Patron

We are contacting you regarding traffic and parking arrangements in force due to the Conservative Party Conference taking place at Manchester Central, as detailed below. When travelling to concerts at The Bridgewater Hall during this period, please allow plenty of time for your journey and parking.

Parking

NCP Manchester Central Car Park (formerly G-Mex) will be closed from Friday 2 October until Thursday 8 October inclusive. Bridgewater Hall patrons can use NCP Great Northern or NCP Oxford Road car parks as an alternative. You can validate your parking ticket for these car parks at the Hall as normal.

Park Avenue car park will be open as normal for those with pre-paid vouchers.

Road Closures

Lower Mosley Street will be closed to all traffic from Thursday 1 October until Thursday 8 October. During this time, the drop off and pick up point for The Bridgewater Hall will be at the rear of the Hall on Great Bridgewater Street, near the junction with Lower Mosley Street. Greater Manchester Police will be on duty to manage traffic in this area.

Further information on traffic and travel in the city during this period can be found on Manchester City Co's website at www.cityco.com.

Well, I got my wish. All eight songs from Truelove's Gutter played and what a sublime night. The full setlist was:

As The Dawn Breaks
Ashes On The Fire
Lady Solitude
Hotel Room
Soldier On
Happy Birthday (to John Trier)
The Sea Calls
Tonight
Open Up Your Door
For Your Lover Give Some Time
Remorse Code
Run For Me
Don't You Cry
---------------------------------
Don't Get Hung Up In Your Soul
The Ocean

It is hard to pick a highlight but if was forced to (which I never would be, obviously) I would have to say Don't Get Hung Up In Your Soul featuring the amazing David Coulter playing the saw.

Oh, and tonight, Hawley was a croupier from Stockport.

Aye - the whole of Truelove's Gutter - loved it :)

Dean playing the drums for Remorse Code [?] with his hands was a revelation - if he had used his feet I would have been really impressed tho'...

Jeez - I've just realised I missed Hotel Room - I can't remember it - and I only had two pints before the show

Hello, I've never posted on this forum before. So, don't be cruel!

Anyway, I saw Richard and band at the Bridgewater Hall tonight and they were absolutley fantastic. My only criticism was that the crowd were too polite. I think every song deserved a standing ovation!

Richard, the new album is your best. Thank you for playing all the songs from it tonight.

Welcome to the forum. It's not a cruel place.

I agree about the gig tonight but if every song got the ovation it deserved, we'd still be there and Hawley would be paying a fine for breaking the curfew

Called Janet!

This gig was fabulous. I thought it was brave not to do any of the faster songs, and it worked brilliantly. The stand out moment for me was Soldier on, but every track was amazing, and i was in tears at some of the songs (may have had something to do with the half pint of wine Jasonminustheargonauts bought me)

I loved it, and i wish i was going to more gigs (and that i had seen 'run for me', I desperately needed a loo break, and you had to forfeit your right to the whole song for that. )

It did feel a bit odd being seated, but the album lent itself to that, and people did stand after the end of the first part before the encore. But i know what you mean.

Does anyone remember what he said after we sang happy birthday? My mind has gone blank.

Welcome woody1424. I know what you mean about the audience being reserved. As long as Richard and the band know they are appreciated, that's important.
