I heard a few earnest discussions in the foyer afterwards about Richard's guitar playing - 'embarrasingly simple' (were they at the same gig?)

Well here's my twopenneth if it's worth a lot:

I thought the gig was outstanding.

Highlights for me were Soldier On (even though it wasn't one of my favourites off the album, it just takes on a new dimension live), and The Ocean - both of those almost smacked you in the chest and took your breath away.

Richard's singing seems stronger than ever, and the band (as always) were as tight as could be.

I do think, a bit like the new album, the casual Hawley listener may have preferred the last tour as the new songs are a lot darker and chilled out in places than previous songs such as Just Like The Rain, Streets Are Ours etc - not as many foot tappers shall we say. That's not to take anything away from the songs/gig/tour though as it seems a step up musically and performance-wise.

As a musician, I really was mesmerised by the level of playing and the subtle little sounds or riffs that are technically harder than they sound, yet give so much to the songs.

Crazy moment of the night was being stood in the foyer, and hearing two guys complaining they were "Dissapointed" because they "thought he'd be funnier". Eh? :? Did they think they'd got Russell Brand tickets or something? Dickheads.

Overall me & mrs chocice thought it was top banana. Well done Richard.

Fabulous set of photos

very kind of you to say so.

These may be ok but when Richard kindly posed for a pic with my wife as he arrived I couldn't even get my camera to focus.

I felt a right plonker !

Best gig I've ever been to.
Although I wanted to stand up beacuse my legs were too long for those seats.
Plus I got a signed copy of Lowedges.
Soldier on was amazing.
I want Richards suit.

Welcome to the forum Mel! :D

Richard is lovely when you meet him - and he's very funny too - the mood of this album just doesn't allow too much of it to peep through on this tour.

There were signed vinyl copies of some of the albums as Palf (the lovely merchandise guy) figured they would sell well, as they did! :D
