Thanks for that reply Guardian69 (how formal am I?), that puts our minds at rest. See you there!

If anyone's interested:

I stumbled across a programme called Countrytracks last Sunday morning which had an interesting 10 minutes piece on the history of the Bexhill De La Warr theatre. It's on again on 08.10.09 at 1.40am BBC1 and its in the first 10 minutes of the show. No mention of The Boss though!

Oh and I forgot to mention, the Smoke Fairies were excellent, the 2nd best support act I've seen this year, only behind Kasabian! Shame 1/3 of the audience were still in the bar!

Me and my other half were at Bexhill too and thought it was completely and utterly fantastic!! :D

Enjoyed the Smoke Fairies too, was also disappointed at the people only turning up after the support. Also still can't get used to people wandering in and out all the way through the gig. Nothing was as bad as a woman getting her coat on in the middle of the Ocean and leaving early. How anyone could walk out in the middle of that, is beyond me! :D :x

Ah well, the standing ovation proved how much everyone else enjoyed it!!

I would like to second what Prudence, (who is a very nice, bubbly lady) said about the Bexhill gig, I have seen the great man a number of times at various venues, but that really was something special and his voice is stronger than ever.
The crowd seemed mesmerized by the performance and the atmosphere was incredible, the new songs sound just phenomenal live.

The gig was fantastic, the band and sound was excellent and Richard's voice was magnificent. I wish I had a video of it. It was nice to hear some witty repartee too throughout including the opening line, "I've never been to Bexhill... don't suppose anyone else has either!". The new songs sounded superb; he needn't have had any fear that the longer songs would be difficult for an audience's attention. I agree that the crowd were mesmerized. I particularly enjoyed 'Soldier On', which from its quiet atmospheric opening sounded totally massive from the middle onwards. I was grinning from ear to ear.

The setlist (can't remember the order)

As The Dawn Breaks
Lady Solitude
Ashes On The Fire
Hotel Room
Soldier On (sounded MASSIVE)
The Sea Calls
Open Up Your Door (the new Haagen Dazs theme apparently)
For Your Lover, Give Some Time (lovely version)
Remorse Code
Don't You Cry
Tonight (dedicated to John Lennon who would have been 69)
Run For Me
Encore:
Troublesome Waters (played by RH on his own)
Don't Get Hung Up In Your Soul (superb saw playing from David Coulter)
The Ocean

Nice guy on the merchandising stall-don't know his name. Got myself a 'Let's Ballad' T-shirt and a Devil's Arse CD. Also saw Shez outside and said hello and shook the great man's hand. Hopefully I'll have absorbed some of his wonderful guitar playing skills! :D

All round highlight of the year!

Took my 16 year old Prodigy loving son to the Bexhill show last night. He was almost in tears during The Ocean. He went home and found tabs to the song on some internet site and is now playing it. What a performance. The band were excellent and Richard was outstanding. A wonderful show.
