But to be fair, that was nothing to do with the festival, it was the shitty weather and trying to keep kids amused in a wet tent with a force nine gale a blowing. Thanks for the advice.

Ah, but I've got Sheffield kids - when it's blowing and chucking it down our 1 year old keeps toddling up to us with her wellies, looking imploringly at us to take her outside...

Of course my wife and I, being a nesh southerner and midlander respectively, fail to oblige...

Ah, one. Cute! The fact is, it doesn't matter how shit the weather is for kids – mine want to swim in the sea when it's minus 2 or have a picnic on top of a mountain in a storm. My real problem is that my other half is a proper Londoner – he thinks sleeping outdoors is unnatural and that evolution has given us bedrooms with walls so who are we to turn back the tide of history. This year, we compromising. I won't make him sleep in a tent if he indulges my pikey tendancies and lets me buy a camper van. Sorted!

Latitude is my favourite fest after End of the Road.
It's relatively small, civilised and they have multicoloured sheep! One of the best parts of all is that the comedy, theatre and poetry (etc) tents are of the best quality, and really make it feel like an 'arts' festival.
They have this amazing stage in the woods that plays host to new music.
The only downside there is a bit of soundbleed between the stages as it is a small area.
I'm so going! Richard, Laura Marling, The National, Grizzly Bear, Rob Ince's Book Club - it's going to be amazing!

Mmm. Would involve a bit of skiving... the don't-take-your-kids-out-of-school-for-a-second-or-we-fine-you-£200-Nazis might get on me case but could get the boys to scratch their heads a lot or rush to the toilet more than usual – it is only for one day after all and they stop doing anything educational in about June anyway. John Cooper Clarke is also on and I have a soft spot for him.

Freaky indeed. Really like him. Heard him on the radio a few months back, on Robert Elms, and he was doing a sort of modern take on one of the poems he wrote about Salford in the 70s. So sharp and funny.
I think he must be on on the Friday too. He's on at the Poetry Arena and it's on the same side of the page on the poster as Friday's line-up. The site doesn't seem to be very searchable so I'm guessing.
Might work on the faux-nits/squits thing and come up with a plan.x

In a different tent - so let's hope it's not at the same time, eh?

Festivals are a good laugh but there's no way I could go to more than three a year. It's like going to war, without the guns.

I'm playing at one in Spain this summer. It's the one where they let loose a bull and it chases people down the street and tries to kill them. Should be good fun. :*:

Really? Are you sountracking it live like an old silent movie? Lots of Benny Hill-style comedy chase music at the start, then dig out the minor chords when someone gets gored...

I'm with you there i really am not keen at all, that festival from what i have read is pretty mental if you see loads of crazed and terrified spaniards running towards you at full pelt accompanied by a sound resembling an insanely angry mad raging bull i would run very very fast AWAY from the fuckin lot of em
