The carvings around the room were excquisite. The theatre was obviously once part of a different room, as the carved panels were just above floor height - and alongside the stage at floor level was about 18 inches of a door with it's lintel and a 'no exit' sign.

The art deco lights were beautiful, good to see some of the original features preserved despite the revision of floor levels!

Some pictures of the original here on this site which are fascinating. I much prefer the original lobby without the enormous BBC reception desk! :?

Here's Johnny :) Yes I agree re the reception, I used to work at BH in the early 90's and I barely recognised it, I was trying to figure out whether the Radio Theatre was the conf room I remember from back then, I had a bath in the basement once :)

Great evening! My first time to a radio studio and thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought Simon Armitage was outstanding. Will definitely be looking for his poetry.

Mrs. Eeezer also had a great time and got her copy of the Evening Standard signed by Richard, for some bizarre reason.

Great couple of tunes from Richard rounded off the evening. Many thanks to the Baroness and Denise for getting us the tickets in the first instance. Sorry we were first in the queue, it won't happen again...

Roll on Jazz Cafe.....
