I have a translation from my Belgian friend, at last.

As a supporting act there was Neil McSweeney, originating from Sheffield, but with Scottish roots, as he willingly explained to us. His songs were rather plain although the lyrics prevented us from falling asleep. Only the last song Postcards, reminded us of the power of Luka Bloom, but even then he lacked enough fire to really warm our hearts.

Much the same as the on-line translator but makes more sense.
