A couple of observations from the gig: Neat looking Danelectro Guitar Richard was playing - don't think I've seen that before. Is it a new aquisition? And got my wish to see him play lap steel - and from only three feet away
Hi Lofty, the Dano is ancient i've had it about 8 years but it was old when i got it,its a Baritone i love its sound i have a few now but only one full octave one,its a Gretsch but its a bit faulty at the mo.I love playing lap steel i've been playing since i was a kid but its tricky live for me to play it nd sing at the same time,Shez plays his live,i bought him an old Selmer for his wedding gift and his mrs a Hawaiian skirt to wear whilst he played it......it made us laugh anyway
..........but since then he has gotten a lot better than me so i usually let him do the lap steel playing,he played it on soldier on very very well indeed on the recorded version........every now and then i play it but not very often now......i must amend that situation as i enjoy playing it so much.Oh and the one i played at the gig is a 1963/4 supro 8 string an awesome instrument
Many thanks for that Richard. Yes, love the sound of a baritone guitar - right from the days I heard one on record but didn't know what it was I was listening to, if you see what I mean. And the lap steel is an amazing sounding instrument, it seems to 'live' somehow. No Way Home is one particular favourite.
