We are driving up from London - really looking forward to celebrating my lovely man's birthday watching RH and the band.

I know it's very late in the day and I should have considered it before but I suddenly have the urge to avoid driving back to Sheffield afterwards (a few beers seems an infinitely better alternative) :P

Has anyone tried to book local accommodation and discovered there's no room left? I still intend to ring around in the morning but I have a feeling I've probably missed out :(

Roll on next Friday.

Enjoy yourselves tonight, I can't wait to hear the new stuff live - still reeling from the first hearing of Soldier On and I suspect some of the songs from this album will be much 'bigger' live.

Just got back in - WOW what can I say, I must admit that I'm not a big fan of his latest but live really made the dynamics stand out - nice to hear a bit more improvisation towards the end, especially on The Ocean

(note to self - make sure you book tickets for Leeds and Holmfirth)

Folks, you are sure in for a treat

I'll 2nd that, it was a top night. It might have been 2 years since the last live show but they've not lost it! Can't wait till Sheffield now!!

Back home, fridge opened :BEEEER

Outstanding evening in a fantastic intimate venue. RH bang on form and seemingly overwhelmed by the reception he got throughout the gig. The setlist consisted of the new album obviously minus The Wood Collier's Grave and possibly She Brings The Sunlight? Don't recall hearing them anyway. Time Will Bring You Winter immediately followed by Down In The Woods are encore material on their own but were great as the 'last songs' before RH's ciggy break! Interspersed we got Tonight The Streets Are Ours, Hotel Room, Lady Solitude, Soldier On, Open Up Your Door, Remorse Code, followed up with an encore of For Your Lover Give Some Time (nice touch with the Wednesday scarf and glass of red wine) and finally The Ocean.

So no Run For Me or Oh My Love which are high on my list of live favourites but never mind, the rest more than made up for it. Would have liked to hear the Brighton Rock version of There's A Storm A Comin' as well as we've not been treated to that live yet. One day maybe

Bring on Sheffield City Hall in September (hopefully minus the balcony joke) :Hoorah

Just got back - photos to come...

I second everything that's been said. One of the best RH gigs I've been to - the dynamics of the new stuff really shines in the live setting. Superb sound too - well done Pocklington Arts Centre - Pocklington - "The city that was built on rock'n'roll"....!!!
