Well. Eternal thanks and I am forever in Poppy Dog's debt. Words fail me, which is unusual. So great to be there in one of my favourite venues and wonderful to see Richard looking so well, him and the lads were on form (and that's an understatement)
Lots of love in the room, Richard seemed genuinely surprised by the warmth of the reception and repeatedly told us how much he loved us, even addressing one heckler 'I even love you mate even though I don't f**king know you'
The new material was, as expected, incredible, high point for me was Leave your body behind you, which I absolutely love anyway but the live version surpassed all expectations. Lots of old school stuff too, Streets, Hotel Room a particularly moving rendition of Soldier on (feels like my anthem at the moment) and The Ocean.
My spare ticket went to Bill from the states (my old man decided he wouldn't be able to cope with a standing gig, he has M.S) and it was wonderful to see him embraced by some of the others and welcomed into the fold. I'm so grateful for this forum and the friends I've made through it. Lovely to chat with Little Dickie and CPAWs before the gig and at long last put a face to the name of the elusive Egg! Great to catch up with people who I have come to consider as friends for life. Looking forward to the next one on Leeds but this will be up there as one of my favourite gigs, I think mainly because Mr H seemed back to his old self. Good to see.

It was a fantastic night!
The setlist was a spot on mix of old and new. RH and the band were on top form and the atmosphere was .... well, Holmfirth! The new album stuff was thunderous as was the applause. Lisa Hannigan was also very very good. Good to see old faces - just sad I couldn't hang about in the pub afterwards as it was a work night and I had to drive home. Thanks guys for a top night. Roll on Manchester! :Hoorah
And, ladies, has anyone noticed Colin's rakish new image?

Tremendous performance in Holmfirth last evening from the self-titled 'Last Of The Summer Winos'!

Had the privilege of leaning on the barrier right in front of Mister Hawley and it was fantastic to see him really letting rip on the guitar at such close quarters.

Setlist (from memory, so the sequence won't be totally accurate):

Standing At The Sky's Edge (superb!)
Don't Stare At The Sun
Hotel Room
Seek It
Tonight The Streets Are Ours
Soldier On
Lady Solitude
Leave Your Body Behind You
Open Up Your Heart
Remorse Code
Before
Time Will Bring You Winter
Down In The Woods

Encore:

The Ocean

Some people were claiming copies of the setlist, so they should be able to amend the above accordingly.

Favourite heckle of the night: "Just how many guitars have you got?"

Mister Hawley pondered over a reply but was stumped and had to resort to a resigned: "Fuck off!"

Absolutely spot on last night, reminded me of the gigs from years ago with the banter between Richard with the audience. Good set list & great venue as always :Hoorah Lovely seeing you all but sadly crushed not meeting the elusive Egg :*: Lovely, lovely night!!! Jean those are ace pictures lovexx

The new songs were great live and what a finale was Winter/Down In The Woods......I was thrilled that Richard included Hotel Room and Open Up Your Door ( which holds very special meaning for me ) and The Streets are Ours as I had never seen him sing this one.....glorious!

And loved being on the front rail again to see all those great guitars ....

And .... he looked great in my fave rock n roll outfit...leather and denim!

Another memorable night in Holmfirth. Thought it might have been overkill seeing Hawley just one week after that epic night at Magna, but i was wrong it was a totally different kind of night equally brilliant but with a different vibe. Some serious rocking out on stage last night, a particular high was 'Down In The Woods', swirling guitars, echo on vocals and shades of the Bunnymens ' Do It Clean'- which can never be a bad thing in my book. Met some lovely forum folks just wish i was doing it all again.

oh yes definately liking Colins ' i'm in a rock 'n roll band i dont care what i look like look'.

A brilliant night again,as expected......the order of the setlist was spot on,a seemless flow classics & new stuff, plenty for the purists and more than enough for the recent converts, who seemed out in force last night.Always a great crowd in Compo country.
Loved the live version of "Down In The Woods"....it seemed all the band went a bit feral at the end...almost felt like being at a Chemical Brothers gig with all the keyboard effects.
Proper turn out from the Forum peeps...lovely to see you all. ..>
