:Hoorah Hooray! I have ordered my tickets. Looking forward to it and it's closer to home than than the Trueloves Gutter venue of Bexhill's De La Warr theatre (great venue though). The Brighton Dome is also a great venue, much better than the Centre. I've been lucky enough to see The Smiths, Morrissey, Suede, Neil Finn, Bootleg Beatles amongst others and more recently Glen Campbell there.

It should be a great night! :D

I really enjoyed the Brighton gig. Most gigs I have seen at the Dome were seated so it was nice to be stood about 7 'rows' from the front centre without the Harlem Globetrotters standing in front, which gave me a clear view of all but Jon Trier who was in a hedge at the back somewhere "checking his emails"! :)

I really can't remember the set order but there was a mixture of old and new songs and the new songs really fitted well in context of the gig.

The sound was superb and Richard and the band were exceptional as you'd expect. Highlights were plenty; Richard's voice throughout, Shez' guitar and lap steel playing; Colin playing a snare during Standing At The Skys Edge; surprise at the silence of the audience during the quiet part and superb 'Soldier On' (probably my favourite lap steel moment which incidentally sounded incredible when doubled with a solo violin at the Philharmonic show); Dean playing the drums with his hands in one song (can't remember which one though); 'Don't Stare At The Sun' (I must admit my mate and I crossed ourselves holy style when the 12 string Ricky was brought out!), 'Down In The Woods', 'Open Up Your Door', 'Remorse Code', 'Hotel Room' and of course, 'The Ocean' and so many more.

Plenty of witty comments from Mr H, loads of guitar changes with some beautiful guitars on display especially the Rick 12 and the 1963 Gretsch Nashville - well done Gordon the guitar tech - restringing that lot must be a job and a half!; Richard describing the model of Les Paul to an enquring audience member, a funny Banksy story. Great musicians (Shez is a guitar hero!), fantastic songs, friendly attentive audience, an all round top night.

A special mention to Lisa Hannigan and her band as well. Whilst I have heard of her, I shamefully don't have any of her music (she reminds me a little of The Innocence Mission whom I love). I will rectify this soon and check out her CDs. Her voice is so pure and crystal clear and her songs so beautiful.

Thanks for coming to Brighton boss!

Some photographs of the gig at Brighton Dome (where I once saw Van Morrison and Richard Gere on the same stage!).

Nice foliage...
