Re: Loud

Belfast had more than a fair share of them as well. Talking when they should have been listening. More questionable was why the Space Cadet behind us thought it was a really good idea to light up a joint half way through the 4th track, only to get him and his mate kicked out by security. What a knob-jockey!! Still a great night though. Well worth the trip from Cumbria.

I want to go to another RH gig. Now. In Ireland. But I can't. Shit. Enjoy, all those going this week.

It wasn't so much talking as singing along to quiet songs loudly and way out of tune. And the drunken heckles.

Re the talking- It wasn't too bad were we were but then I'm a shusher ...I have no problem telling people to be quiet especially when the artist says something during the set...I think it's fair game to shush people at that point. When you start the shushing, the people who have been quietly seething tend to join in!!!! This will all end badly one day methinks until then I will shush the annoying ones.

A Tweeter complained that Richard had pointed out the talking, and then proceeded to talk himself between songs - someone who hasn't quite grasped the concept of the artist up on stage is there to entertain which includes the banter, and the audience having paid to see the artist should let the artist get on with it.

Another reason not to twit!!
Belfast's loss - you would think after hearing the 'Banksy' tale they would have wanted to hear the rest of them, but they wouldn't shut up, so alas we never got to hear them. Thank God we got to Barrowlands for the unexpurgated version. Ha!

Vicar Street was amazing on Mon. A few talkers around me as well. Got one of the signed tour posters, very nice. Looking forward to Cork tomorrow night. Might hang around the venue in the afternoon to see if I can get the singles box signed. Met Richard last time he came to Cork and was really nice with photos etc. :D

Took the missus up to Derry To see the main man for her birthday and he was just unreal, his voice was perfect, we were on the barrier right in front of him, he has some presence/charisma! The band were just so tight, he was staying in the same hotel as us and met him ever so briefly on the Sunday morning, was the best gig I've been to all year...

Until Monday night, he upped his game again, went with the missus and a good mate of mine who I hadn't seen in yonks, it was almost a religious experience, the crowd was much better in Dublin. When he came out at the start there was a group of lads infront of us who continued their conversation like the artist they'd paid to see hadn't just started the opening song so I, as politely as I could, told them to shut the fuck up. Now I'm a lover not a fighter but it did the trick. The crowd was great (much better than in Derry who Richard handled brilliantly I thought), the banter was razor sharp and everyone (around us anyway) hung on his everyword between songs.

Highlights for me were Open Up The Door, Remorse Code, The Ocean and nearly every song off the new album!

Overall it was 2 great gigs, gonna hopefully head over to London to see him in Feb, dont think I could wait another few years for him to back over here (hint hint Richard please come back soon!)

Cork tonight was magnificent. Not that its a competition or shit but just pipped Dublin for me. Great way to end a tour and a year of RH gigs.
