May have to have words with the Boss and ask for my fortnightly visit to London to be moved back by a day..

Best wait until I actually get a ticket first

Might bring my boy. He's learning the guitar and wants to see a band play. And figure, as it's in a church, there won't be too much swearing and reference to practices he shouldn't know about at the age of 12! And presumerably there won't be an age bar because of where it is. Maybe, maybe... x

On ticketmaster there is this info: Under 16s accompanied by an adult 18+

By the way, does anybody know the difference between "Stalls Unreserved Standing" and "Circle Unreserved Seating" at St John-at-Hackney Church?
Does this mean the venue is divided in 2 areas?

Yes, I used to live in the next street. There is a wide circle which has fixed seating but it's first come, first served. And usually the bottom has seating for worshipers but seems they are removing them and you have to stand. Really nice venue though, really old part of London and great places to eat and drink nearby (although don't be expecting much gentrification because it sort of bypassed that bit). There used to be a nice pub round the corner but I'm going to check if its still open (and still nice) before I recommend. Used to drink at a pub round the corner with an Elvis impersonator where Les McKeown from the Bay City Rollers used to do a turn if you bought him gin... x

Mmmmm. Think I will ring re age thing. It's in a church, FFS, I mean what inappropriate things will people be getting up to? H will presumerably not be calling people c***s, talking about being off his head on speed while out with the kids and punters won't be pissing up the gravestones. More tea, vicar?

Anyway, whether I bring my child or not, thought I would offer pub tips. On asking around the manor, people tell me that the Chesham, 5 Mehetabel Road, is still nice and quiet, nothing re-invented, gastro or gentrified about this one. Just a backstreet boozer with loads of middle aged blokes playing pool.

Probably the best bet is the Pembury Tavern, http://www.individualpubs.co.uk/pembury/, which is very big, not too far away and serves real ale for you beer boys. In my day, it used to be a dog-on-string pub where you could always pick up a bit of pot on a Friday night. But apparently, it's not like that anymore, dahling.

And Biddle Bros on Lower Clapton Road is supposed to be nice. Jazz, tapas, cool. But when I lived there, it was a builders merchants, and I just refuse to go. No, no, no, I will not. In 20 years, will people be going to Wickes or Travis and Perkins for a swift gin? Sincerely, no, I cannot do it.

Whatever you do, do not be tempted to stroll down Homerton High Street to the Jackdaw and Stump or Adam and Eve. They are both only extensions of the betting shop and you may not come out alive. x

Would have loved to go to this with it being on my birthday... I think my favourite musicians need to get organised and play gigs a week earlier or later when i am in the UK!
