OK - starting to plan for this now - I understand the park is quite big - can anyone tell me which entrance I would use nearest the gig area? Different buses go different ways. And is there a taxi rank anywhere near the park or should I book a cab in advance to bring me home after?

Having only been in Sheffield about 5 weeks I'm a complete novice and haven't a clue where anything is so any advice gratefully received! :D

I think its at the end near the animal farm bit, Hemsworth Road end. I think

As for taxis - dunno but I need one too. unless we opt for steal animals to ride home on. :Oink:

From this link it looks like the main access is via the Cobnar Road entrance, so the best bus would be the 20A from Arundel Gate. You should be able to get off near the jct of Derbyshire Lane and Hemsworth Road virtually right outside the park gates.

It's a bit out in the sticks there so no taxi ranks nearby that I'm aware of and it looks like the last bus goes past around 10.30 so might be a case of pre booking a taxi.

Hope that helps.

You could always walk down Cobnar Rd ( very steep) to Woodseats and get a cab there.
Woodseats is a much busier area for buses and cabs, few pubs and takeaways too.

Thanks Mikey, not keen on steep hills though! Have had to walk down Paradise Street/Square lots of times this week and even in daylight that is a bit of a nightmare in heels :*:

I may do a dummy run that way before the gig and scope it out though :)

the big top (presume it's the same one) was up near the animal farm for CliffHanger this weekend. It's basically the only flat bit. Carpark was using Cobnar Road entrance.

Hello!

Anyone know what time Richard's set starts? I have emailed the gig promoter but got no reply. I have a very young baby and I'm dashing out for the gig( Granny is minding him) and then coming home to feed him. This info would be very helpful to me so I can leave spare bottles etc... and maybe even go for a cheeky pint afterwards. We are coming over from Dublin especially for the gig so we're very excited!

From the Sheffield Forum - post from one of the organisers.

Gates at 6pm both nights, supports around 7pm (a little earlier on Friday), headliners 9pm, with a finish about 10:30pm both nights, however the curfew is 11pm, just in case we over run slightly. All entrances to the park will be open but the event entrances will be on the footpath between the Hemsworth Road (Animal Park Entrance) and Cobner Road (Event Car Park Entrance).

Can anyone suggest a decent pre/post gig pint venue?

Not many great pubs around there and all depends which entrance you take, if you are going in the Cobnar rd way, there are a couple of pubs on Derbyshire lane http://www.prince-sheffield.co.uk/ and another tiny one called the Mount Pleasant further up the hill towards the park.
There are lots on Woodseats rd but its a steep walk up Cobnar Rd to the park.

I got an email from the gig promoter re the times:
"Richard Hawley is due on stage from 9pm, but support artists will also be performing from approx 6.45 - 7.00pm."

So enough time for a pint before!
