Well, what can I say? It was fab. Flew over from Utrecht, Netherlands to see the man and band play. And it was worth it! Today I drove from Utrecht to Brussels and listenend (and sort sang-a-long) with Lady's Bridge.
My favourite? Dunno but The Ocean was a absolute climax. Still recovering from it. The Sea Calls.....I love that song.
Anyway, just read RH is also playing the RAH so...spending money again cos I wanna be there. At least one cloggie in the audience that night ;)
Cheers, Richard and band.

Hey Cloggie - welcome to the forum! :D

Boy you travelled a long way - but the guys are worth it as you found out! :D

Hope to meet you at a future gig!

3 days late but I couldn't not write - particularly after everyone being so nice and welcoming! The Astoria gig was awesome, my other half did not in fact pee his pants when I told him we were going (thank God really!) but was really really excited... I thought Maps definitely improved as their set went on and I agree to an extent with what someone said earlier about not being able to hear the lyrics well but I reckon that's their style and I was pretty impressed by the end. The main event was awesome... such a flawless performance. I have to say Coles Corner is the most beautiful song I have ever heard and I don't think I'll forget the 1st time I heard it so I was a wee bit gutted that I didn't hear it later in the set but a tiny point really. The encore was phenomonal, Clive and Richard work so amazingly well together - such huge talents. I can't wait for the Royal Albert Hall! :D

A bad review, if fairly and constructively written, is justifiable but that is just badly written rubbish. no stage presence?! what does he want richard to do? climb the speaker stacks? set his guitar on fire after playing it with his teeth? drop his pants and show his arse like angus young (ac/dc)?

Normally, as seen elsewhere on this forum, I like to jump in to defend reviewers as being wrong doesn't make a bad review. But that is arrogant music-exec-wannabe tossery of the highest order.

I was so chuffed to hear Oh My Love & Something Is. Hotel Room, Dark Road, Lady Solitude, I'm So Lonesome and The Ocean sounded equally sublime.

And I finally got my hands on some Henderson's relish which smells absolutely delicious, then treated myself to some badges - last of the big spenders!

I thought Maps were rather wonderful despite quiet vocals, enjoyed more than Vincent & his Villians. Oh & Shez's suit was pretty pretty fine.

And a mention of Shez: a genius guitarsmith who picks lap-steel as expertly as cranking out rock chords

Indeed all the group get the praise they deserve in this review.

Gravity defying quiff. Brilliant :D ... & not too many mistakes, either, except crediting 'Coles's Corner' as 'Hold Back The Night'. Not a bad guess :*:
