i loved last night as did the lads,i had to cut the encores short because of a curfew  which was a shame as Clive was there,i got in a car anf fucked off back to Sheff almost straight away :D

Good lord, no pint afterwards? It must be love! :*:

Damned shame there was a curfew - didn't realise that - I had my own private thought about why perhaps you didn't do all the tracks - the pre-encore break was so quick I figured you didn't have time for more than a puff or two and were getting a bit desperate............... :*:

Bloody good gig as usual - can't praise Richard and the lads enough - all tracks sounded absolutely superb - and I loved the bit where Richard got down on his knees to do the solo on the red guitar (OK I know nothing about guitars - just that its that one on Hotel Room and its my favourite sound apart from the guitar on the Lady's Bridge album cover - the booming one on Dark Road............ :D ).........

We sat in the dress circle which was quite high up - but what a view! Made a change to look down on Richard (I am pleased to report he has a full head of hair!) instead of looking up his nose............. :*:

The opera glasses came in very handy when I wanted a closer look which was at least half the time...............

The audience were quite good I think - although I'm not sure whether somebody had tied everyone to their chairs up where we were - I can't listen to the music without tapping my feet or moving some part of my body - and all the people around us (with the exception of the bloke next to me) just sat there..................

But a great time was had by all - found out that Dave, Craig, Katie and Charlotte are real and not just pictures on the forum and Maggie is a sweetheart and actually quite sane ( ). Also managed to speak to Dean, Clive and Palf and a very quick hello to Shez.

Beautiful in York this morning but absolutely freezing with the fog and it even snowed................. so I didn't take the walk on the City Wall that I wanted to do....... beautiful scenery on the way home with the frost on the trees and fields and frozen streams and ponds...........

Now I'm back home in rotten old Essex (I need to move to Yorkshire!) with an enormous "Hawley and his band, but mainly Hawley" shaped hole in my heart - roll on the Royal Albert Hall..................... but there may be some consolation if I get to Hawley spot on telly with the Brits on Wednesday............... :D

Oh - a quick apology to Richard - he did say during the gig that he didn't want all that praise (someone shouted "we love you Richard") but I'm not stopping cos you and the band are all absolutely lovely and talented and the best thing since sliced bread................... or at least the best thing since somebody invented Rose and Violet Creams anyhow............. :D  :*:

ditto missus-we rocked up about 3 minutes before the first band and then sat in the bar for a bit-were going to try and get in but got evils from some old gits (who smelt of wee) so went back to the overpriced bar and waited for a bit-we were in the stalls so couldn't see you anyway-was it you that shouted 'we love you richard' and received a withering put down from the big lad? If it was I might have known, if it wasn't I'm really surprised :*:

We saw Jim Gipson (didn't want to disturb the couple next to me, I'd already made them get up a few times!!) and then went to the bar until just before Richard came on..............

No it wasn't me that shouted - I wouldn't dare cos you don't know what he's going to shout back! :*: If I want to tell him something like that I'll just PM him............. (er......... and before you run Richard I'm only joking............... :*:  )

Same here M'am
as I posted earlier [p2 i think]:-

"highlight for me was 'the Ocean' .....
Richard on knees with that wailing red gibson.
boy did he ring it's f*cking neck! "

ps excuse the swearword - I deliberated, but that is the only meaningful adjective I could come up with

Jan - just posted this on the Belfast gig thread.
...........................................................................

Well here's another take on a balcony joke:

a guy is lying sprawled over three seats in the stalls.
Usherete: sir, what are you doing?
Guy: aargghh, aargghh!
Usherette: c'mon sir, you cann't stay there you need to move!
Guy: aargghh, aargghh!
Usherette: sorry sir, I cann't understand you, where are you from?
Guy: aarghh, the balcony!

might loan this out to Richard!

It was a good night in York, apart from the fucking bar prices......Dick Turpin is still alive and well and running the bar at the York Opera House!!! I was looking forward to hear 'Oh My Love' in the encore, but the fucking curfew got in the way. Also it would have been nice to hear at least summat from each of the albums.......time to dig out 'Baby You're My Light' mucker!!

.....but lets talk about the LAYDEEZE!!!!.......It was really nice to meet Julie (The Baroness) in the flesh after all this time, she's lovely!.... and also Catsandbooks (Jackie?....I'm really shit with names!) who looked surprised that I didnt have pointed teeth and a bag of dead puppies in my hand!! Also a pleasure to meet Maggie and Jan, although Magie confused me with Craig for some reason and expected me to be a big fat bastard!! .....all becme clear when she met Craig!

.....It's about time Hawley started selling kazoo's and combs as part of his merchandise!!!
